Science

   Nowadays there are eight research institutes of Russian Academy of Science in the scientific center. They conduct researches in modern fields of chemistry, chemical physics, physics of solid state, theoretical and mathematical physics, mathematics, biology, geochemistry and ecology. The main fundamental problems under supervision of the institutes of the scientific center in Chernogolovka are connected with chemical conversion of matters, reacting under different conditions
   The Institute of Problems of Chemical Physics (IPCP) is the largest in the center. The Institute develops fundamental problems of chemical physics: kinetics and mechanisms of chemical and biological processes, combustion and explosion processes, polymerization; mechanisms of elementary reactions with high-energy particles.
The second institute by size is the Institute of Solid State Physics (ISSP) ), where they successfully research low-temperature dislocation physics of solid state, superconductivity, electronic kinetics, physics of low-dimensional systems, high-pressure physics and material science.   
The Institute of Physiologically Active Matters (IPAM) carries out the investigations in the field of synthesis, physical-chemical properties and mechanisms of physiologically active matters of different classes, including chemicals for agriculture, ferments, matters of protein nature.
The basic trend of scientific works in the Institute of Microelectronics Technology and Highpurity Materials (IMTH) is a research of physical basis of diagnostic and technology of semiconducting materials, micro- and nanostructures for microelectronics.
   Institute of Theoretical Physics named after L.D.Landau (ITP) is a unique center of theoretical physics. A spectrum of scientific directions of the institute includes a large number of modern branches of theoretical and mathematical physics.
The branch of the Institute of New Energetic Problems for Chemical Physics (INEPCP) carries out researches, connected with physical -energy influence on the nature and technical objects.
The Institute of Experimental Mineralogy (IEM) researches the processes of ore formation, which can help by solving the problem of purposeful exploration activity.
   The scientific activity of Institute of Structural Macrokinetics (ISMAN) are connected with general and structural macrokinetics, processes of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis, applied science of materials, creation of technological processes of obtaining of inorganic materials and structures in microelectronics, technology of preparation of micro- and nanostructures, electric and optical features of metallic and semiconducting nanostructures, principles of performance of elements of X-ray optics.
A laboratory of astrochemistry of the Moscow Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry named after V.V. Vernadskii has appeared in Chernogolovka as a special low-background laboratory, studying radioactivity of meteors and lunar samples with the help of the modern methods of radiation measurement.
The forests nearby Chernogolovka made for creation of experimental base of the Institute of Evolutionary Morphology and Animal Ecology (IEMAE named after A.N.Severtsev) in the SCCh RAS, where they study ecological behavior of wild animals.
